What did they ticket you for? Parking on the street because they refuse to let you add parking?

i forgot to put my car in it's slender non-conforming space :)
i also paid a pkg ticket to oak park (meter expired in front of george's - like 2 freaking minutes or so) but no extra charge in that town.

i missed that new surcharge in the VC minutes. small time charm.

an oak parker took a musical tack to reproach his village hall, the lawyers, the developers...

"Some neighbors opposed the building, worried that it would lower property values, increase traffic and have a dwarfing effect on nearby homes. Only one opponent showed up Monday, Paul Hamer, who played a ukulele and sang a song about the village board allowing citizens only three minutes to speak before the vote.

"Oh the developer man gets all the time he wants, to hit softball questions out of the park," he sung. "But me, poor me, all I get is three, three minutes to stay free.

"Oh the lawyer man gets all the time he wants, to use, confuse and abuse. But, me poor me, all I get is three, three, three minutes to stay free."

"The funny thing about all of this is that no matter how bad all their ideas are, no matter how disastrous their governance has been, no matter how many horrible things they have done to the economy and this country, what really is killing the Republican party is that deep down, they are just complete assholes."

"I don't want my tax dollars touching even one milimeter of that overly engorged expense.

I realize that many people disagree with my moral objections to men getting erections which God clearly doesn't want them to get, but my principles on this are more important to me than theirs are to them. So too bad. If you want a boner, pay for it yourself.

And I think those noxious advertisements for the drugs should be banned as well, if only for aesthetic reasons. Having to watch my baby boomer fellows wail "Viva Viagra" is offensive to anyone who has any taste in music.'

this is different. a lengthy read on a new afghanistan strategy by 'Maj. Jim Gant, a Special Forces officer and the recipient of numerous honors including the Silver Star.'
just sharing.

"The paper, entitled "One Tribe at a Time," is a military strategy that Gant believes is the only one that can be successful in Afghanistan. He finished it just weeks before his deployment, and it quickly made the rounds and created a stir -- all the way up the chain of command to Washington and the White House."

First reaction was to LOL.

Then I thought, wait, chickens are female, and eggs are hard shells. WTF?

Then I just LOLed again.

Sometimes ya just gotta suspend reason in favor of a good laugh.

Great she can be president and I guess Tim Gillian could be the VP. The US would have common sense all sewn up.

pertinent.

"You really think this kid can‘t be convicted? You really think we don‘t have enough evidence beyond the—beyond the, I don‘t know, 300 or so eyewitnesses who were on the plane? The fact that we have the weapon that he tried to use? The fact that he confessed? You think that‘s not enough to get this kid convicted? You have that little faith in our criminal justice system? That little faith in the rule of law? You don‘t believe that a supermax federal American prison is capable of holding this kid?

You think it might be cool, instead, to martyr this kid as some impressive soldier, instead of some idiot confused rich kid who couldn‘t even handle blowing up his own junk with a bomb that was secreted in his own underpants? We‘re supposed to take national security advice from you guys? Really?"     Rachel Maddow
