As you may know, the President made an official declaration of disaster which has now activated FEMA resources.

If you experienced any flood damage from the July 23rd storm you can and should contact FEMA now to begin the registration process.

You may reach FEMA at any of the following;

1-800-621-FEMA (3362)

1-800-462-7585 (TTY)

FEMA is now in charge of processing any and all claims for the July 23rd storm related damage.

I had a finished basement. Tore out the carpeting and drywall, and in the laundry room took up all my tile. Washer and dryer along with my furnace and hot water heater were fine. Lost all furniture and xmas decorations, so not so bad but bad enough. Never had water in 14 years but ever since the storm I now get seepage every rain, so some damage was done to my foundation. My costs so far are about $4000.

I was wondering how much, BUT more to the point, What IF they "FEMA" told you they would  "Help" with Replacing/Fixing?

Asking how much is bad to ask i know, But was wondering  "WHAT" it would Fix in  a Finish basement.. I hope if repairs are say 6K you got a check for 5K that would be nice ,  even a half would be nice due to "act of god" stuff..

Glad you got Anything/something/a lot/Enough to make you pleased that you got a check. BCB..

Damn Forgot, Also for this post, Did anyone call the people that Push a Rod Down the outside of the Foundation "What ever it's called, " And Push I think it's a plastic/rubber fluid to seal the foundation's outside from seepage , Any idea of cost..?

Since Alot of Homes  "didn't have seepage " before this interesting storm month  .BCB...

P.S.S.   homes seem to have a seepage on 1 side if the flooding waters "Cracked" a side of your home,

Or should i say, people that got flooded seem to have seepage on only onsed from my years as a plumber.. "Not always" but 90% of the time. BCB...>>>

suggest you take your bottom half, not any other half. docs won't care which is 'better.' :)

I see we've got a bunch of comedians around here!  LOL For the record, the colonoscopy went well. Michael has the most perfect, cleanest colon they EVER saw.

OK, on to FEMA. I have to say the whole experience was rather interesting. The guy was here at six a.m. and the first 1/2 hour or so was spent on my porch while he gathered info (ID's, proof that I own and live here, and insurance info). He did ask to come upstairs to measure that the basement footprint is the same as the upstairs. Then we went downstairs. He spent quite a while looking for the "best" water line and found one that I would've ignored. I thought I topped out at around 18", he said more like 19 - 22". He said I will get credit for the washer/dryer, water heater, stove, fridge, furnace and one of the boilers even though they are still working as they expect them to need maintenance/cleaning. No credit for the boiler that serves the rental unit - that would go to an SBA loan if necessary. He also counted every electrical outlet for replacement credit. Didn't say much as to personal effects, except for Lauren's toys. One thing that is interesting is that unlike an insurance co. where once you cash the check, your claim is closed, you can discover something later and call back for more help. I have no idea what to expect, but I will say I was rather impressed with the process. The guy who was here is with a recovery firm who is contracted by FEMA. He seemed very knowledgable and it was amazing how fast and easy the whole process was. Will keep you posted.

thanks for sharing, harp. sounds like a solid, fair encounter.
2 things:
1) fyi, like harp said, rental properties do not get FEMA grants but are eligible for SBA low interest loans. the tenants can apply for grants for dislocation, some personal property, ruined cars, i.e. basic livlihood issues.
2) i had a similar, very positive, experience w/my State Farm claims adjuster. actually 2x, 2 issues this summer.
i've never made a homeowners claim and anticipated a somewhat adversarial encounter, but it was the best customer service experience i've had in a looong time. even wrote a note to his boss.

Yes, Michael is "a clean old man"! Love the reference. I cannot imagine what I might get but I will be grateful for any help at this point. BTW, what do we all think of the lines all over for free LINK card $$. Don't even have to prove water, just residency!

Wow, Citizen, glad to hear SF was so good to you, and I love to hear you wrote a note. I LOVE to do that for good people, but most people will take the time to bitch, but not to compliment. Kudos to you and SF!

Seriously, thanks to all for caring - you guys are great!

Harp, I also had a good experience with my adjuster from Met Life. I also sent them a note about the wonderful experience through a trying time.

Also, I hate seeing the lines for the SNAP cards. Mooches all of 'em. Don't get me started.
