about the wind advisory/warning starting tonight.
We are all advised to secure lawn furniture and anything that could go airborne with all the winds. Take care folks and batten down the hatches. |

i like to be airborne. those are my favorite dreams :)
anyway, not sure what battening down the hatches means in 50-70mph winds. i'd put everything in the garage, but...

Old Navy/sea-faring term. To tighten the battens, (now turn screws) on hatches, to keep the sea out during rough seas. When that order goes out, sailors are also required to secure all loose items in all spaces, "stow them away," so they don't go flying about.
