I am new to home schooling and wonder if there are any families doing so in Forest Park. Any suggestions as to how I can find out?

You can start at the state board Home Schoolinginformation.

The Illinois Christian Home School website is here. You can tap into their resources. They likely have a support group in the area.

There is also a secular home school resource site here

Google will help find a lot of information regarding the "unschooling" approach.

Locally, I would make informal contact with the library, park and community center to find others who are home schooling in FoPa.
If no luck, move outward to OP, RF and elsewhere.

Reciprocity between Chicago area museums can help widen your resources.
Before joining or buying a membership, inquire about the policy. Most have online resource centers you can use to add depth.

For grades 5-12, the Illinois Virtual School could be an option.

I must say that the available information for home schooling has grown exponentially in the last few years.

If I ever have kids I wish I could homeschool them.  Kids nowadays scare me.

Thanks, not doing it for religious reasons, which may make it harder to connect with another family.

We have been homeschooling in Forest Park since 2008.  There are at least 4 other homeschooling families in Forest Park.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!  WELCOME!!

I looked into it as an option when the girls were getting close to HS age.
I don't have the links any longer but there is/was a location in Elmwood Park (North ave?) that provides curriculum and testing resources for parents that Home School their children.
