From the Review April 6, 2005

"The meal is a steal, with all food donated."
In addition attendees will enjoy a pasta from one of Forest Park’s most
exclusive pasta restaurants—LaPiazza, for only $6.
“One of our members, is [Mayor] Anthony Calderone,” Lordan said. “When we were trying to identify local merchants, Tony talked to the chef at LaPiazza, who said he would donate the pasta.”

“I called Gaetano,” Calderone said. “Since he has opened business, we certainly have become mutual acquaintances.
Our heritage stems back to the same part of Italy. Gaetano has a very big heart. When I had first called him, I called just for
some advice, on how to put together a pasta dinner, as we started talking and I told him what it was for, he offered to donate the
product.”

FF to December 2009 Gaetano's had gained zoning approval to open a "beer garden" but proceeded to build a fully enclosed addition...

"Calderone, however, said the building that exists today is very
similar to what was originally presented. Removing the windows,
he said, makes the design and the execution almost identical. That the
cinder block walls were replaced with wood frames, and electricity and plumbing added, is irrelevant.
“Other than a flat roof versus a pitched roof, if you pulled the windows out it is substantially in compliance with the drawings,”

Calderone said."

Gaetano's zoning and building lapses were validated by the Mayor's majority in a 3-2 vote. Coincidences. Completely unrelated to mutual "Acquaintances". The quid was 4 years earlier. So there's no quo?

The mayor didn't get benefit from the donation to his club. He didn't have to disclose the donation on any forms. And he would NEVER remind his fellow Kiwanis of his facilitation of the club's fundraising efforts.

Gaetano was just being a smart business man. Give sugar to get sugar.

Yes, many folks in his 'base' also owe him their jobs too.

FP Review year in review 2009:

Tim Gillian hired as top administrator

"Without a college degree or any experience as a public administrator, Tim Gillian, the lifelong friend and political ally of the mayor,
was hired in August to oversee the day-today operations of the village. He was chosen ahead of more than 30 other applicants for the job, and his appointment was not without contention. During a nine-month search
to fi nd the next administrator — a period during which the position sat vacant — the village council grew increasingly fractured.
Gillian was hired by a 3-2 vote, and one minority council member said the decision was dripping with cronyism.
Mayor Anthony Calderone defended his tie-breaking vote to hire former village commissioner Gillian, and said his friend’s ties to the community make him an asset. “With Tim’s knowledge of the history of
this community, our form of government, our finances and local laws, we would be doing a disservice to our residents if we selected anyone but him,”

Who in his "base" are you speaking of.  Why do you make these type of generalized statements without backing them up with any semblance of fact.

Do you want names? Anyone who he hired (Gillian, Moritz, Cody?) don't want to see him gone.

Where is John McGee today? Still living in town?
via forest park history club
Submitted by John McGee of the Forest Park Public Works Department.

The Forest Park Public Works Department recently completed Phase I of the remodeling of the police station and the addition of the Prefabricated House Trailer that will house the Criminal Investigation Unit. The trailer is awaiting electrical power to be hooked up and telephone lines to be installed. In addition, new stairs have to be added and the bottom of the trailer has to be skirted and furniture moved in before it will become fully operational.

You folks are Sooooooo anti Forest Park it is really startling.  Why don't you meet at Harrison street Cafe for coffee or McD's and read the paper and bitch about everything like the grumpy old men used to do

Pooh Sam! You're all over the place, you seagull, you.

Here's the thing, Pooh. People on this board aren't anti-Forest Park. We're quite pro Forest Park. It's just not a Forest Park you'd recognize through .

We're just dreadfully tired of Anthony Calderone's ineptness, arrogance, deceit, secrecy and dishonesty. When it comes to really bad governmental traits, the guy's a triple or quadruple threat of liabilities. Worse yet, he attracts like minded clowns to him.

Some other towns around here actually benefit from the volunteer service of people willing to bring their considerable expertise to volunteer boards that help move those town forward.

Here, everything's been hijacked by a man whose only skills are political, and who couldn't administer properly or effectively if his life depended on it. And people who actually have accomplished things through their intelligence and hard work aren't particularly willing to their efforts stuffed into whatever hole a person like Tony Calderone sees fit to stuff them into.

Actually it's Moritz. She replaced Joan White.

IIRC Joan went back to the medical field.

She sits on the D91 school board.

Have these other towns seen a loss of services or laid people off during this recent economic downturn?

Sam, Sam, Sam. Anti-Forest Park? Really?

We care MORE for FP cuz we aren't after big $$$. Nope, we are just long time homeowners who care way too much about a community that is steadily going in the wrong direction.

Oh, I forgot, dissent is not allowed in Happytown. It makes all the Calderphoneys frown.

Gillian has done nothing and really knows nothing.  Did you read his letter in last weeks review?  Moritz has done a horrible job.  Not sure what Cody does as she is supposed to be working for all the commissioners and the Mayor yet only seems to get stuff done for the Mayor.
