Superintendent rebates 90% of salary to district

"Powell's answer? Ask his board to allow him to return $288,241 in salary and benefits for the next three and a half years of his term. He technically retired, then agreed to be hired back to work for $31,000 a year — $10,000 less than a first-year teacher — and with no benefits."

You won't see that in Forest Park; that's for sure. The village of no kids are here who shouldn't be (according to the last guy).

That was the Rev. Meeks' publicity move.

Yes, watcher, but the school was forced to respond though nothing came of it, far as I know.

Because he failed to get the response he fully expected. No dogs, no fire hoses, no police phalanxes, no bullhorns, no counter-protestors.

No resistance was offered, paperwork was provided and the students' applications were taken. Some actually were accepted for enrollment and provided with an opportunity to attend classes. It was treated as a learning experience for BOTH sides.

The California superintendent who gave back to his district did it to prevent the cancellation of programs he implemented and believes in. He put his money where his mouth is. An object lesson for supes who enjoy a lifestyle their students won't attain without drastic changes in how we allocate and prioritize resources on EDUCATION related spending.

So many people are saying there's no money, but whenever I look there's plenty of money, it's just being spent poorly. All show; no go.

Was listening to Michelle Rhee on Fox this morning, why is there always failure to address parenting issues in regards to education?
