Town Hall topics: 'Altenheim property' and 512 Desplaines building
Thursday Feb 23rd, 7pm Village Hall (lower level) 517 Desplaines Ave.

Please come out and have your voice heard regarding the future of these two Village owned properties.

Sitting vacant for over 10 years, with only the YMCA offering a viable option during that time, the 5.5 acres that surround the Altenheim retirement homes is at a crossroads regarding its future: Sell it off? Develop green space? this is one of the last large parcels of land in our community and the public should have a say in it's future.

On a smaller scale, for almost 2 years now the burned out building across from Village Hall has sat without movement in any direction: Expand the Village parking lot? Deed it to the Historical Society? Sell it off? Raze it and wait for more ideas? your voice is also important in shaping the future of this highly visible piece of property.

The Review wrote two nice articles regarding the meeting, see below:

Thank you & I hope you can attend.

Nice? I wonder if the MOPA agrees?

Interesting that Tim couldn't recall a commissioner calling for a public meeting about potential development. He "hosted" one himself over the 1101 Lathrop townhomes proposal when he was a commish.

Piehead,

Mayor Calderone has accepted an invitation to speak at the Town Hall.

As for the outcome, I have faith in the will of the people - and if people show up and express a desire that is overwhelming we, as the Village, would be foolish to not respect that.

Please come out to have your voice heard on the Altenheim property, we are going to lose a treasured landmark and green space. We would love to see as many people as possible to come out!

And as we all know, it does not matter what 'the people' want; it's all about what Calderone plus 2 decide!
