two resolutions on are the Village agenda this evening:

Facebook Posting Policy (re: Village FB page(s) and posters)
looks like this will be monitored by users via an outsourced company
http://forestpark.granicus.com/MetaViewer.php?view_id=2&event_id=6&meta_id=570

Internet and Social Networking Policy (for village employees, officers, officials, etc.)
looks like this will be enforced by the Village Mayor
http://forestpark.granicus.com/MetaViewer.php?view_id=2&event_id=6&meta_id=572

i know we just had the PIPA/SOPA confrontation and no one wants their intellectual property stolen, but does anyone have knowledge of how these work w/in a muni?

Hmmm, why do we need a company from Dublin, Ohio monitoring the Village of Forest Park's facebook page??? How much is this going to cost us? Friends of Tom Mannix (looks like he moved from his apartment over the weekend...on to better things?)?

So reading all the gobblie gook on the agreement, seems to leave the door open for Calderone to post links to anonymous sites (okay when he does it) that bad mouths people he doesn't like but gives this outside company the right to remove anything about the village etc. at their discretion.

Just more Calderone bull.

My understanding is we have already paid this company, the Buy FP that the village paid 14,000 for.

So will it still be okay (seeing as the mayor approves EVERYTHING; can you say micro-manager) for the mayor to post links to anonymous blogs that slam people in the village? Links to anonymous blogs praising an editorial about how the person hates anonymous message boards. Seems a bit hypocritical, eh? But we all now the mayor only likes things his way or you are the enemy!

Chicago State Univ. policy "absurd"

"The publicly funded Chicago State University has instructed its faculty and staff that only authorized university representatives can share information with the media and that everything from opinion pieces to social media communications could require prior approval.

Employees who violate the new policy could lose their jobs, according to a copy of the rules obtained by the Tribune.

In an email sent March 22 to faculty and staff, Sabrina Land, the university’s director of marketing and communications, wrote that all communications must be “strategically deployed” in a way that “safeguards the reputation, work product and ultimately, the students, of CSU.”

“Frankly, this policy is an obscenity and absurdity and is not tolerable,” said Cary Nelson, president of the American Association of University Professors.
"Persecution is the first law of society because it is always easier to suppress criticism than to meet it."-

yes, of course, it's all to protect the students.

"Chicago State, on the city’s South Side, has struggled with poor graduation rates and financial mismanagement for years."
