"Description:
Be a part of history with the first Oral History collaboration with the library and the Forest Park Historical Society. Mayor Calderone and two friends will be interviewed by a panel of moderators to kick off the community oral history project. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that can't be missed!"

Two friends? Meaning he is going to bring two friends or it implies Hosty/Mannix or Hosty/Gillian or he's hiring two friends? WTF does that mean. Just curious. I know, I know, this was probably just taken out of the newspaper.

The mind boggles. I sure hope they get this on tape.

I think he should write a book!

Sounds like it's just the kick-off. I remember when they were working on an oral history of Hull House and the surrounding neighborhood, if people were interested in telling their stories there was contact info. They got back to some and not others. You would have things to talk about even if not in that particular venue.

I sure couldn't sit through it; I'd have to vomit. I am sure they will be Tony's friends.

So a very lopsided view of FP history.

Read it this morning, thought it was kinda nice. How does being a supporter of the Mayor enter into this? It's a worthy project, hope the oldsters in town record their stories, memories.

I get a kick out of the "friends" thing. For years the Mayor kicked Cox around like a dog. Every attempt Cox made to create a historical record of FP was ignored. Cox was widely ridiculed by Team C when he ran for Commissioner in 03.

Cox may have been a bit scattered back then but at least he HAD integrity.

Now with the Welch thing going they are friends!?! Integrity, schmegrity, who needs it.

You're right, in the beginning every garden needs a thick layer of fertilizer to grow.

Not convinced it added much 'history' specific to FP! Hell,I have snowstorm of 67 stories as does anyone who was around then. Nothing special about FP experiences; could be anywhere near here. Just saying. But guess the had t9 start somewhere.

Aww, c'mon guys; I think you could learn a lot from AC.
There were no escalators when he was growing up. I'm not even sure there were stairs!

Just chutes and ladders.

I think the only escalators in FoPa are at the CTA stations. Our ups and downs are more cerebral in nature.

Hello All Hope everyone is doing well.

When I saw this on the library signboard I also had to laugh my A-- off

This was a concept that I thought would be great after returning from a seminar in regards to oral histories down in Springfield Illinois five or six years ago.

It was intended for Senior Citizens to record how it was growing up not just in Forest Park but anywhere.

It was meant to be a genealogical record and a family keepsake.

The thought behind it was not just a page or two of reading about your Grandmother or great Grandmother or Grandfather

But you would be able to hear their voice telling there own story in his or her own words.

It would be recorded and then put onto a CD disk that would be given to the family to keep.

It was not for three friends to reminisce about a snowstorm or someone as young as Anthony C.

Maybe Anthony should have talked about when he was the head of Accounts and Finance for the village when the last bond issue money on the sewer systems of the village were to be paid off and how they only were guaranteed for forty years read

November 24, I960  FOREST PARK REVIEW p.6 Legal

Mr. Backman you are correct they did treat Bob C. like shit.

By the way does anyone here know what happened to the History of Forest Park???

Where are all the records that were removed from my house by the Village Workers on the Tax Payers Dime?
