Channels 5 and 9 on the scene. Did NOT involve 7-11 but took place in the parking lot there. One reported victim. Police looking for suspects.

Police called to 7-Eleven store at 2:50 p.m., found a man who had been shot in
the neck. It is not clear whether the shooting happened inside or
outside of the store.
Reportedly had lost his cell phone and had been contacted by the shooter. The two
men arranged to meet at the store, to return the cell phone.
Instead, he walked up to the victim and shot him and reportedly attempted to rob him.
The shooter described as a black man in his later 20, six foot, heavy build, wearing a jan jacket, with a jerri-curl hair cut and a large face. He ran north bound on DesPlaines with two other people, one of which was a black woman in her 20s sporting dreadlocks.
The shooting victim was taken to Loyola Medical Center just after 3 p.m.
Police set up a perimeter and searched an alley a block north off Yuba Street, where witnesses said the three ran into.

See my other response also. It is not necessary to have assault weapons for this type of crime.

I think the more important training in this instance relates to setting up a perimeter and knowing how to search for a suspect.

The shooter used a revolver. You don't need an assault rifle to counter that.

Why, no, I'm not a cop. You?

But I know that any law enforcement professional with a modicum of training doesn't need an assault rifle to deal with some dick head run-of-the-mill thief armed with a revolver.

Which, just to be clear, since it's clear you read a lot into a simple comment- that doesn't mean I'm against L.E. having access to more fire power when needed.

Is that an absolute fact? You're reaching. How could you OR I possibly know what may be needed, he'd already shot 1 person?

Yes, someone was shot. Horrible, lots of bad, bad, thugs out there that don't care about anyone.

BUT, now the bigger issue is that whoever did it is still at large!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did they just vanish into thin air?

Maybe 7-11 has a security camera outside, Portillo's or one of the other businesses nearby? Can you tell I watch too many crime shows?

Hmmm, I hope the cops did a better search than what is shown in the news clip (a chubby officer looking in the bush in the building next door).

No details at all? White? Black? Hispanic? Tall? Short? Fat? Hair? Nothing???

Here's a hint, pie.

Conduit= "The shooter described as a black man in his later 20, six foot, heavy build, wearing a jan jacket, with a jerri-curl hair cut and a large face. He ran north bound on DesPlaines with two other people, one of which was a black woman in her 20s sporting dreadlocks."

Think the officer was looking for the gun, cell or maybe something else dropped or thrown while running away. Think he knew the shooter wasn't hiding in the bushes:)

Never know what might be in the bushes, could find Conduit observing police procedures.

I agree, you don't need to be a cop to make that statement.
It's all about training.

No, logic. I always stand on the sidewalk when I observe police procedures. Bushes are usually on private property, and I'd be trespassing.

Ooops. Hope that doesn't sound like I'm trying to be a lawyer.

The tactical guys are out and about on this case Sunday morning. Saw several coming from a residence off DesPlaines at, I think, Taylor Street. Keating and others.

Not an assault rifle in sight, btw.

WOW, what a relief! From your fingers to god's ears? Don't understand why a police officer carrying an assault rifle would bother anyone, must be a p_____c thing.

What an odd web name you have, logic, for someone who's so clearly not very logical.

Where ever do you get the idea that anyone posting here "has a problem" with cops having assault rifles? Especially since I and others have explicitly stated the opinion that it's good and appropriate for police to possess them.

The issue here isn't that cops have military type fire arms, but about their appropriate use.

That's why- don't take my word on this, go ask the cops- all that extra fire power they carry is stored in heavily secured squad car trunks.

And that's why you didn't see officers running around with automatic weapons in response to the shooting.

Where exactly is the argument here? Except in our own head?

Used numerous times in the past, certainly you can find another way to express yourself, you're a smart guy, MOSTLY.

The concern was specifically this, (C=The shooter used a revolver. You don't need an assault rifle to counter that.)

That is not a determination you can intelligently or logically make. Can you predict how any situation with an armed suspect will play-out, what's in/appropriate "fire power"? Crystal ball? I can't nor would I pretend to know. Case Closed

That's the beauty of solid police intelligence, Pie- you narrow down the scope until you zero in on a suspect. One street, one house, one person.
That is feasible. And it worked. No AR-15s needed. Just good L.E. brains trained how to do it well.

The pictures of the two charged look so smug. I hate ghetto scum. Can people be barred from living in a village? I wish these two could be.
