Wow.

Second presidential inaugural speeches, like second presidential terms of office, are generally expected to be less meaningful and compelling than the first.
Not this time. I've never been prouder to have voted for Barack Obama.
Obama broke that tradition of second term mediocrity today with his speech. With a clarion call for the full implementation of our Declaration of Independence and full constitutional protection for all.

A call for full inclusion of all people, whatever race, creed, age or sex orientation. Whatever their station in life. For a politics that both protects the interests of all of American citizens while also demanding an effort from them. For a nation strong but compassionate, engaged in the world, not merely bullying it.

They'll be talking about this speech for a long time.

Hopefully we can find a way to assure that our President's goals and ideals are actualized the next two0to-four years. And to continue the resurgence of a progressive agenda, rather than eventually turning that agenda over to those who would subvert our highest ideals for their own selfish purposes.

Sadly it contained no mention of ending the continued murder of innocent Pakistani civilians.  No mention of curtailing the ever-increasing use of warrantless wiretaps.  Nothing about invasive government-mandated searches without probable cause by the DHS's TSA, nor of DHS's "border patrol" setting up checkpoints hundreds of miles from the border.  No words of hope or change regarding his administration's record-breaking use of the DoJ to lock up non-violent "criminals" for victimless "crimes," or the highest rates of FOIA rejections from the self-proclaimed "transparent" administration.  Nothing about the failure to introduce (never mind pass) a budget in 4 years.

So, Mark, you're saying Rep. Paul Ryan is wrong when he criticizes the president's first four budgets with increasing the deficit.

If Obama "fail(ed) to introduce (never mind pass) a budget in 4 years," what is Ryan talking about?

Of course, any failure to pass one of those budgets lies with the House, since they pass the budget.

And what is that 7-page letter easily found online, dated Feb. 2012, outlining last year's  budget?

Also, glad to see you're so concerned with warrantless searches. They were introduced by Obama's predecessor.

He also didn't mention whether or not he has quit using cocaine, beating his kids, having relations with farm animals or cheating on his taxes.

I can only guess as to the source of your "information" since you've provided no supporting cites or links. Quite a mess of charges. One might think nobody's keeping an eye on this administration.

Working backwards:
Budget The president has submitted his budget each year. Congress has failed to pass an actual budget for the President to sign. Not his fault.

The Obama admin. has the highest rate of FOIA lawsuits, not the highest rejection rate. There's been a three-fold increase in FOIA requests since 2008 with a much larger percentage of requests for information specifically exempted from disclosure. Minus the questionable requests, the rejection rate is slightly lower than it's peak rate in 2003.
(Source: DOJ and NYT)

Not sure where you got the accusation that DOJ is breaking records locking people up. The overall number of "detainees" has gone down each year of his first term. (lazy source: wikipedia (but sourced via GAO)

DHS checkpoints have wider latitude than roving border patrols. They were implemented after 9/11. Their effectiveness is unproven.

TSA is a hot mess. Not worthy of inclusion. By government mandated searches, are you referring to airport "screening"?

I understand him not touting his drone and covert actions in today's oratory. I will only say that we know a lot more about these "missions" than we used to, but not nearly enough to determine the extent of collateral damage or how many innocent victims have piled up.

SFAIK, there is ongoing articulation between the U.S. and Pakistani governments regarding drone attacks. Though that may have changed after Bin Laden was found hiding under the protection of Pakistani officials.

Today wasn't a day to talk about sausage making.
