Chris Welch Apologist-in-Chief Bob Cox is at it again, this time in a letter to the editor in the Feb. 13 FPR.

Cox makes one assinine, unsubstantiated point after another in his 500 words of squealing about lack of news coverage, biased reporting and "crisis journalism."

First, Cox complains of a "noticeable absence of reporting the induction of Illinois State Representative Emanuel Chris Welch to the Illinois 98th General Assembly." As if a small weekly struggling to survive in a down advertising market is going to make a 7-hour round trip to cover a state rep swearing in.

Cox calls for objectivity, but displays absolutely none himself. He completely ignores a litany of documented Welch sleaze and missteps and outright unethical behavior.

Cox decries "selective "crisis" news coverage policies," at the Review. The problem for Cox and other Welch supporters is that if you create as many crises as Welch has at D209, newspapers cover them. And newspaper can't rake muck if there's no muck to rake.

In Welch's case, he's waist deep in muck.

Cox goes on to blame the bad press on "negative public perception crossing political and public education control boundaries "Proviso style" between them." Never a hint that Welch did anything to bring scrutiny upon himself.

"Where is the objectivity?" Cox asks, echoing the same garbage voiced by other people with piles of baggage like Welch and Tony Calderone. This from a man like Cox, who has been paid by Welch for campaign help, and who is utterly lacking in objectivity, who sees only bias despite a laundry list of documented corruption and ineptitude by Welch.

"The governance process is not so much about the individuals as it is about the outputs and results of the systems and organization they represent. Can the Review speak to those newsworthy issues once in a while?"

What a pile of inane crap. The Review regularly "speaks to newsworthy issues." And government is also about ability, personal integrity and character, all things Welch has shown he lacks.

Cox, one of Welch's biggest enablers the past five years, calls for a return to civility while at the same time referring to the "sanctimonious tone of a disgruntled newspaper publisher's editorials, rants of a handful of whistle blowing wannabes, the voyeuristic online feuding in anonymity, and continually blaming others because of anger, jealousy, prejudice of abilities, or buy-in to flawed misinformation" by people with opposing political views.

In reality, those online voyeurs "feuding in anonymity" also pay increasing high property taxes- in my case more than $2,000- to fund a failed, wasteful and politically corrupt school district, a situation Cox did nothing to improve for four years.

The fact is Chris Welch won by 36 votes out of 11,945 cast. He's a proven liar and shown to be both inept and corrupt in his management of D209. Proviso D209 was just one of three or four high school districts rom the more than 800 in the state that required ISBE help and oversight.

Welch has earned the high level of scrutiny he and his apologists complain about. And if that feels biased or uncivil to people like Bob Cox, tough. Better learn to deal with it.

dahhh... dah-dah-dum!
