Will hazard a guess that the dog poo dump video played a part in Hosty being unseated.

I'd hazard a guess that the behavior exposed in that video played the bigger role. There have been previous videos of Mark's attitude towards the community and certain people in it that didn't move enough voters. Evidently this time enough said "enough!" The lesson shouldn't be to make sure nobody is watching when dumping your crap. Nobody has license to ignore common decency, video cameras or no video cameras. It sounds like you're saying if he'd gotten away with it, we'd be stuck with him again, for another four years of his attitudes. |

His attitude after being outed certainly didn't help matters. Claiming he was cleaning up the block? Really, how stupid does he think we are. And the fact that he dumped it at the end of his street as opposed to in front of his own home speaks volumes, even if he were to continue claiming he didn't know he wasn't supposed to do that. Really, he didn't think that putting crap on the street was a no no? Again, how stupid did he think we all were.
I once had a confrontation with a neighbor that walked his dog, let him poop and didn't scoop. When the guy got in front of my house I told him to refrain from walking his dog in front of my house unless he was going to pick up what his dog deposited. He claimed he was going to go back and pick it up (he never did). Then he went on a tirade of calling me a bitch. He was a renter and thankfully moved away within 6 months of this. He was a bad dad as well. When he'd have his son over, he would berate him constantly when playing catch in the street. Sad excuse of a man. Bottom line, if you have a dog, and he poops outside, you pick it up and deposit it in a container made for poop. |

Hey, pie, I knew someone who would bend down, pretend she was picking up the poop but leave it there. She was very old, what a wasted effort:)

re: the filming...believe they just put a recorder on the windowsill for a couple of weeks. maybe a timer was involved as word-on-the-street was this was a morning routine.
when the video came out i did some googling - did you know the most animated discussion seems to be once the poop is picked up, can it be tossed in some one else's garbage or should you carry it home to your own 'receptacle?' very animated :)

In my opinion, garbage can is a garbage can. Just don't dump it in the street!

The timing, as in the public release of the video, not the timing on the camera:)

While the "history" between the parties might be interesting, it doesn't alter the video evidence. In the past, Hosty had not just denied allegations of arrogance and boorish behaviors, he smeared anyone with whom he had these encounters. Without "proof" he got away with it. This video shows someone who thinks he can do whatever he pleases and remain above the rules imposed on everyone else. His arrogance was captured on video. He wasn't "set up". This was the REAL Mark Hosty on display for all to see. The timing was perfect. |

Interesting VC meeting last nite, several weeks ago I was told by Joe B. that they were going back to the old way of getting dept. assignments. You know the highest vote getter picks his dept. on down the line. Well it appears Mannix recieved more votes than Dan N., Mannix is now Heath and Safety, Dan is Streets and Inprovements. Or maybe the Slate that votes together sticks together. I believe Dan is going to have a long and unpleasant 4 years

Guess the slate decided that after the election results came in. Next election it could go back to whatever the hell they feel like. |

i don't know what these 'assignments' mean and 'who's got the power' under a 5th Calderone admin, but let's play along.
Accts/Fin - prob too big, complex for most non-finance folks. what responsibilities could Joe B have? atho he is technically the vice-mayor. Health/Safety - unless village starts demo'ing coach houses, Mannix is in charge of the elusive rain barrels. altho if FP gets back in the development business....eesh, i don't even want to think about Mannix having lunch w/developers. Streets - sewers, new alleys, snow removal (can we really afford that? doubt it) Public Prop - Altenheim the last two are the most timely assignments? sewers & Altenheim? |

Perhaps Tom can go after those red light cameras on buses again. Wouldn't that be a safety thing? haha and let's hope not.
